Human beings by nature are destined to search for the meaning of their existence. So long as we search as a social organism, our pursuit is intertwined with joys and hopes, griefs and anxieties concerning ourselves and the society where we are rooted. The Given Journal joins with all people of good will on this search for meaning and hope while deeply engaging with the realities of the society with a renewed rigour and vigour.
We approach human realities from the phenomenological perspective of givenness, where various experiences, events, and phenomena are received as they give themselves to us. This method helps us to cross over the limits of human consciousness and the horizons limited by the being. Jean-Luc Marion, a French philosopher and theologian, has radically rethought how various phenomena befall us with his contribution on givenness.
With an inclusive and dialogical heart, The Given Journal shall explore the maximum possibility of givenness in our lives, that is, certain phenomena exceeding our imagination, cognition, and intuition.
